Sammy Story 12: Scary Leaves

July 3, 2020 | Sammy Stories | 3 Comments

It is autumn here and our backyard is filled with leaves. Sir Poops-a-lot was doing his thing, happy as a clam. (Why do we say clams are happy? How do we know?) In any case, he was not in spook-mode. After he did his business, he did the next doggie-thing, which is utterly useless, and probably some throwback to an earlier perfect breed of dog; he “covered” it up by digging at the grass and leaves and throwing them up behind him. You’ve seen it–they never get anywhere near where the dirt is and the amount scratched up wouldn’t cover a caterpillar.
But the leaves did hit the fence behind him.
Well! What a scary sound that is, right behind a wee little doggie. Nothing to do but bolt–those big old mean leaves might get him!
So that is today’s belly laugh. Also, the look of disgust on his face when he knows I’m laughing at him; priceless.
