Welcome to Sammy Stories.

I hope you will enjoy the stories and snippets that I have recorded about the journey our rescue dog, Sammy, and our family have traveled so far.

I hope to share one every few weeks or so. Not all of the stories will remain on this website, but we are working on ways to be able to pass on any you miss. If you wish to receive my monthly newsletter which will include the latest Sammy Story, please fill out our contact sheet. You will not be spammed or asked to buy anything and may unsubscribe at any time.

He was abused the first two years of his life, especially by men, and it had left him terrified of them and sensitive to noise and sudden motions. The wonderful family that adopted him had him for seven months but realized their family was not the right fit for him. He was still terrified of the males in the family.

He had joy in him but didn’t know how to play, liked letting the hair grow over his eyes so you couldn’t see him, and was afraid of new things.

Since being with us, he has lost his wild-eyed look, plays and snuggles with me, and doesn’t start at every sound or movement. His safe place was his kennel, from which he rarely attempted to venture, but now hardly ever goes into it. He even lets my husband (we have nicknamed him The Ogre) pet him occasionally, and no longer flees from his presence spraying urine and feces as he bolts. (Gotta love that!)

These stories are about a very scared, small creature finding his way out of fear, finding love and peace, and finding his voice.

Join me as I share about our journey.
